Paula wanted to get into running as she wanted to get more active and lead a healthier life but wanted Ella (her dog) to come along for the journey!
This is Paula’s story.
“I saw a poster in the YMCA advertising a Couch to 5k Programme consisting of a 10 week Programme held at Fairhaven Lake.
I decided that this would be good for me but also to encourage non-running friends to join too. I wanted to get fitter & also run with my dog and what could be better than to run around the Lake.
Everyone in the group was happy to welcome me & my dog & I mentioned it to other friends & announced the group at church. Each week our group expanded in numbers & it became a very friendly supportive group with folks exercising at all different levels from brisk walking to steady jogging. The climax was when everyone completed the 5k at Lytham Hall & gained a certificate. The programme was really well run & Scott (community sport activator) was encouraging & supportive of everyone whatever level they were at. Despite having finished the Programme our group still continues & we want to welcome more members to join us. I can thoroughly recommend the Couch to 5K.
I have managed to go sugar free whilst doing the Programme & have lost over 1 1/2 stone which has helped the running & I am now wanting to progress to running 10 miles then a half marathon. I will still attend the group as I have found it great fun!!
